National Road Safety Week – Lunch & Learn

To recognise National Road Safety Week, Young Transport Professionals (YTP) were proud to partner with the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) to host an online Lunch and Learn session “Unpacking the Complexity of Road Safety”. Road safety is complex and takes a collective response across governments, organisations and the Victorian community to deliver safe roads.

Our esteemed speakers, Frances TaylorMatt Allan and Lloyd Toffolon delivered an engaging and information presentation on unpacking the complexity of road safety, As well as showcasing the massive effort that DTP has been putting into having a comprehensive and coordinated approach to address the complexity and improve road safety. This session focused on the policies and challenges of the State’s first Road Safety Action Plan under the Victorian Road Strategy 2021 – 2030. Our speakers shared invaluable insights and practical strategies that left us feeling inspired and ready to tackle new challenges. Thanks to all the speakers for your expertise and engaging delivery.

We have captured some screenshots from the event, showcasing the safe system approach, road safety framework and what’s being considered during policy making. During the session, we queried the audience to brainstorm a road safety slogan. Some of the entries include:

– Don’t get tunnel vision on the road!
– Have a family gathering at your hospital bed, or not
– Drive safe to see another day

We want to express our sincere gratitude to all the participants for their active engagement and enthusiasm. Your contributions made this online Lunch and Learn event a resounding success. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming events, and let’s continue learning and growing together!
