HCMT Manufacturing – Site Visit

Young Transport Professionals were excited to partner with Downer to host a site tour event at the Downer Newport Site to witness the production of the impressive High-Capacity Metro Train. With parts of Melbourne’s train network using the newly employed High-Capacity Signalling system, this event was a great opportunity for members to learn about the production of the newest passenger train – the HCMT.

The event program consisted of a presentation on the evolution of the manufacturing process from the first trainset to the current trainset as well as a site tour of the HCMT production line. Attendees were provided a glimpse into all facets of the HCMT production, starting from a sustainable supplier chain all the way to the assembly of the train.

The site tour consisted of a full in-depth tour of the HCMT production line. Attendees were treated by a two-part presentation, with an overview of the wider HCMT project scope. The presentation consisted of Downer’s involvement in delivering & maintaining the new trains, and how they interacted with the new high capacity signalling system.

This was one our most popular events to date, with ticket selling out in less than 2hrs! Be the first to know about our next event by registering to our mailing list.

Young Transport Professionals would like to say thank you to the facilitators for their time and knowledge sharing on the topic of Manufacturing Evolved – Assembling the HCMT.
