Building Sustainable Cities – Problem Solving Workshop

Reflecting on an inspiring evening at the ‘Building Sustainable Cities’ event!

On the 5th June 2023, Young Transport Professionals honored World Environment Day with a Building Sustainable Cities workshop. We gathered with Egis to discuss and tackle the challenges of creating resilient, sustainable, and livable cities. It was great to see YTPers collaborating and sharing ideas.

Integrated urban design, road networks, housing, and green spaces took the spotlight as we explored the elements that shape city livability. Attendees took part in a card game that identified vital issues for the creation of a sustainable city, typically encountered in an urban setting.  This allowed our YTPers to exchange ideas in a game-ified format. It certainly drove home how urban design and planning are complex by nature.

Our favourite moment was when teams presented their ideas with great passion. Each team was strongly committed to their chosen cause(s) with pitches incorporating both 2D and 3D! Super well done to all the teams and thank you for your active participation. Everyone is a winner indeed!

Thank you to our facilitators Naomi Trent & Niels Van Toor from our Sponsor Egis and all the participants for your active engagement and contributions. Let’s carry this momentum forward and make a positive impact on our urban future.
